Or Mishal was born on May 31, 1974, in the Tel Aviv city of Israel. At the age of one, professional diagnostics revealed an unusual musical potential that attracted many visitors. He was so young, that they decided to let him grow, and then explore how to deal with the phenomenon. At the age of 3, his mother signs him up for the local conservatory, where he began learning to play keyboards.
At age 4, he performed his first concert accompanied by the Philharmonic Orchestra in front of a large audience and was defined as a prodigy. The affair with keyboards didn’t last long and it was decided to let him grow up as a child normatively, away from the spotlight, putting music in the background. At the age of 10 he went on to study piano, synth, and drums, but he did not persist.
In 1985, when he was only 11 years old, he felt a strong attraction to guitar studies and began taking private lessons focused on classical music. After a few lessons, he left the field and returned to it after a year and a half, when he was determined to study and specialize in guitar studies.
His parents did not want to buy him a guitar, because they feared he would not persevere in this area, and would not buy the guitar until he proved himself to be persistent and devoted to guitar studies, and that his skill was significantly improved.
By the age of 13, he started performing at local festivals and won first place awards every year. He then began to compose and write songs for local singers. During his growth, he showed interest in other areas and left the guitar as an integral part of his daily routine, improving his skills from time to time, subsequently engaging in mash-ups in other areas. In 2008, his desire to study and specialize in blues and rock increased, and he enrolled in a local music college.
After a few years of schooling, he continued to develop his professional skills on his own and develop a unique style of music that he identified with.
In 2012, he emigrated to Canada under personal circumstances and completely changed his way of life. Innovative and local musical materials were well known to him. His playing skills continued to improve in such a way that he became famous as a lead guitarist and was highly sought after by local rock bands, reggae bands and many musicians who required a guitarist.
Along with his other pursuits, he gained experience performing in front of an audience with local bands, subsequently creating unique solo pieces for many famous songs. He established a YouTube video show “Or Mishal & Friends,” in which he played with other local musicians in a variety of styles.
Slowly and surely, a crowd of fans fell in love with his playing style and special solos. From May 19, 2019, Mishal began recording original instrumental songs, some of which were improvised while recording. Later his songs became popular among music lovers around the world. He became a lead guitarist which was known to make the guitar sound like it is singing.
The unique melodic approach he developed extends the improvisation possibilities during the song’s creation and leads it to the front of the stage in no time. Or Mishal has written dozens of songs in a variety of styles, with most of his songs being defined as unique soundtracks for film, documentaries, TV articles, children’s shows, and animated films.
Mishal’s perspective is diverse, creative and unexpected, with the purpose of taking listeners on a unique inner journey that connects them with their deepest emotions. Mishal’s instrumental songs are unique in their style and simplicity, and the blend of sounds tells a subconscious story that takes the listener to new districts.
“I came to Canada at the age of 38, with very basic English knowledge, it was difficult for me to communicate with the environment and most of the time I had to shut up. I felt like a baby born and wanted to express myself and couldn’t. This situation leads me to loneliness and solitude and I found a way to express it through the songs. The guitar was my listening ear and my best friend that managed to extract treasures from me that I was unaware of.”
From 2016, Mishal spent most of his time improving musical skills and techniques, along with writing many materials and publishing his poems in Canada, the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Australia, New Zealand, Austria, England, and Great Switzerland. This unwavering commitment to music has given birth to dedicated pockets of fans and friends all over the world that is growing consistently every day.
Or Mishal is an enthusiastic animal welfare supporter, a vegetarian and an enthusiastic supporter of young and anonymous musicians based in Vancouver, Canada.
